I just the other night watched Village of Doom (AKA: Cursed Village, orig title Ushimitsu no mura) Not a bad film not a great film but I'm left with a question!
According to Thomas Weisser in the Japanese Cinema Encyclopedia he states "This is a true Story, based on a 1938 massacre in the rural mountains of Okayama"
I've been scouting on the net and nowhere else have I seen anyone suggest that this is based on truth and neither can I find any reference to any such spree killing in 1938 Japan. So does anyone know if this is indeed based on truth or if the statement by Mr Weisser is wrong. It's just bugging me bit!?
